John S. and James L. Knight Foundation partnered with Microsoft to provide funding for art institutions to collaborate with technologists. Recipients of the funding include Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum at Michigan State University to develop a system of smart labels that combine ultra-thin touch displays and microcomputers to deliver interactive informational content about artwork to audiences.
