Description of work: Responsible for the leadership and guidance of exhibitions team; identifying themes and organizing exhibitions; responsible for overseeing research and interpretation of the collection through exhibition; responsible for disseminating results of research through publications, exhibitions, lectures or other venues.

Minimum Required Qualifications: Master’s degree in Fine Arts, Art History, Museum Studies or related field plus 4 years of experience directly related to the job functions required. Must have extensive knowledge of professional museum principles, practices and procedures, especially in a university setting. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interface effectively and diplomatically with internal and external constituents including Museum staff, University faculty, community leaders and volunteers necessary. Record of strong management and analytical skills, both strategic and operational essential. Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends, as needed, required.

Preferred Qualifications: PhD in Fine Arts, Art History, Museum Studies or related field preferred. Five or more years of experience directly related to the job functions desirable. Knowledge of professional museum practices, preferably in an accredited museum helpful. Prefer experience working in an exhibitions department with experience in designing exhibition themes. Knowledge of logistics necessary to implement an exhibition from start to finish desirable. Five or more years of managerial experience in exhibitions department of museum helpful. Prefer formal knowledge of textiles and quilts. Proven experience in cultivating relationships, collaborations and partnerships with regional, national and international communities preferred.

Posted Salary: $52,000 minimum
