Cal State Long Beach Students Protest Museum Director’s Firing

In early September 2018, gallery director Kimberli Meyer was fired from the University Art Museum at Cal State Long Beach days before American MONUMENT, an exhibit featuring lauren woods’ work about police brutality, was about to open.

Since her dismissal, lauren wood has paused American MONUMENT until the university can provide more information about the decision to fire Meyer.

Students have also been protesting Meyer’s dismissal and have now created artwork in response to September’s events at the University Art Museum at Cal State Long Beach. (Hyperallergic)
